Sonri Foundation was born from an unexpected meeting, but with a shared purpose. We came from different backgrounds, yet each of us had already been working in our own communities to improve oral health and support social initiatives. Among us are leaders who have served as Head of the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) in South Halmahera, founders of the Gigi Bali Sehat movement, and initiators of the Dokter Gigi Berbagi community.

Although we worked in different regions, we often encountered the same reality when visiting communities. Many people, especially in Eastern Indonesia, still have limited access to oral health education and dental care. Many children grow up with untreated dental problems, and awareness about prevention remains very low.

Through conversations and shared experiences, we realized that while our individual efforts were meaningful, a united movement could create a much greater impact. From this shared vision, Sonri Foundation was established as a collaborative platform to bring together our initiatives and expand our reach to more communities in need.

Together, these three pillars—preventive oral health, education for behavior change, and community empowerment—form one unified mission that guides everything we do.

We believe that lasting change begins with health, grows through education, and becomes sustainable through empowered communities. Through collaboration and compassion, Sonri Foundation is committed to bringing healthier smiles and brighter futures to communities, starting from Eastern Indonesia.
